Your privacy matters to me, so I want to be clear about what info I collect and how it’s used.
Comments
When you leave a comment, I collect the info you provide in the comment form (like your name and email), plus your IP address and browser info to help prevent spam. If you use a Gravatar, an anonymized hash of your email may be shared with them to display your profile picture. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture will be visible publicly next to your comment.
Media
If you upload images here, avoid including location data (EXIF GPS), because anyone visiting the site could potentially see it.
Cookies
- If you leave a comment, you can opt to save your info in cookies so you don’t have to type it again. These cookies last a year.
- If you log in, temporary cookies help check your browser compatibility, save login info, and remember display choices. Login cookies last 2 days, screen options cookies last a year, and “Remember Me” keeps you logged in for 2 weeks.
- If you edit or publish posts, an extra cookie tracks your last edited post for 1 day (no personal info included).
Embedded Content
Some posts may include content from other websites, like videos or images. Interacting with that content may allow those websites to collect info about you, use cookies, or track your interactions, just like if you visited those sites directly.
Sharing Your Data
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How Long We Keep Your Data
- Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely, so we can recognize and approve follow-ups automatically.
- Registered users (if any) have control over the info they provide in their profile. You can edit or delete most data anytime, though usernames cannot be changed. Admins can also manage this info.
Your Rights
You can request a copy of the personal data we have on you or ask us to erase it. This doesn’t include data we must keep for legal, security, or administrative reasons.
Where Your Data Goes
Comments may be checked through automated spam detection services to keep the site safe.
